The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Mauritius in Bulgaria was established after long-term contribution by Mr. Christo Iliev for rapprochement of the bilateral economic relations.

The President of the Republic of Mauritius issued a consular patent for the commissioning of Mr. Christo Iliev as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Mauritius to the Republic of Bulgaria, dated 13 September 2013. On the basis of Decision No. 455 of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria, an exequatur was issued to Mr. Christo Iliev by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria dated 15 October 2013.

The Consulate Headquarters is located in Sofia and its consular region covers the territory of Bulgaria.

The Embassy of Mauritius in Berlin, Germany is accredited for Bulgaria. The Republic of Mauritius is represented by the following High Diplomatic Missions and over 70 Honorary Consuls in countries worldwide.

Christo Iliev holds a PhD in Economics and Real Estate Management, OPM 41 in Harvard Business School and RICS certified.

Since the establishment of the Honorary Consulate in Sofia, he initially held the position of Secretary to the Honorary Consulate and subsequently Deputy Honorary Consul, with a focus on developing bilateral relations, promoting business opportunities and partnerships, tourism, culture and sports in Mauritius.
